Top Anti-Cannabis Crusaders

It may be hard to imagine if you understand the benefits to be gained from cannabis, but there really are a lot of people out there who seem to have made keeping marijuana illegal their life’s work. They all come with their own list of reasons, bad science and in some cases what seems like an unhealthy hate for this natural curative plant. Let’s take a look at the top 3 along with their contact information. Feel free to send them an email on how you feel about their efforts to keep marijuana illegal and out of the hands of desperate patients.

Calvina Fay

Known as the Queen of Reefer Madness by pro-pot advocates, Calvina Fay is the epitome of drug war supporters. Her organization, Drug Free America Foundation, Inc., actually began as a company that wrote drug policy for workplaces. Calvina says that through this business, she constantly heard about friends and loved one’s who knew others who were addicted to any number of drugs, and that those stories are what urged her into creating the DFAF. Contact them by email here.

Kevin Sabet

Referred to as the quarterback of anti-drug movement, Kevin Sabet has many years of experience working in politics as an anti-legalization advocate. One of the only people to have worked under the Clinton and Obama administrations, Sabet is also a policy consultant to numerous domestic and international organizations through his company, the Policy Solutions Lab. Sabet served in the Obama Administration as a senior advisor for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy from 2009-2011. Contact Kevin with your opinion here.

Stuart Gitlow

Apparently a fan of anything not a fact, Gitlow rejects the idea that marijuana can have any legitimate medical applications. Gitlow is the President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a professional organization representing over 3,000 addiction specialist physicians.

About ASAM’s attitudes toward marijuana, he said:

“Our positions and policies with respect to marijuana have been developed over many decades and have been updated based upon the latest scientific evidence. We are firmly opposed to legalization of marijuana and reject the notion that the plant marijuana has any medical application.”

Right, because the science for that has never been shared. Contact the ASAM here. Come on, let these people know how you feel about their efforts to prevent the legalization of this highly valuable plant.
