In the same month that marijuana becomes legal for recreational use in Oregon, Portland will be hosting the 2015 Cannabis Cup. High Times, which currently produces six Cannabis Cups in locations where marijuana is legal or has legal medical programs, will add Oregon as its seventh destination next year.
A representative for the Annual Cannabis Cup recently shared that the Portland event will be a bit of a trade show aimed at bringing together vendors who work in the cannabis industry.
“It’s a chance for the public to see all these new businesses and check out some of the cannabis merchandise,” he said.
With its new legal status, vendors will be able to offer free samples of products that includes edibles. However, the Portland Cannabis cup is billed as an event open to people ages 21 and up. This differs a bit from other cannabis related events where it is open to people of all ages.
The Portland Cannabis Cup will also feature national music acts and educational seminars. Event organizers hope that the Cannabis Cup can help remove the stigma around marijuana.
